A Facebook Profile Makeover for Network Marketers

As a network marketing professional, it’s important to make my Facebook profile appealing and eye-catching to other users. I’ve definitely made these mistakes in the past four years of social media marketing through Facebook, but here are few simple things to work on to help you improve your Facebook profile and not make the mistake that I made!

Here’s Your Facebook Profile Makeover

1. Make Your Profile “Public”

I can understand that you’re a parent or you work at a job where you don’t want people to see your personal life. If you want to make money in network marketing, you need to share your life on social media to connect and relate to others who are seeking someone to connect and relate to.

It might be tough to swallow, but IF you’re looking to grow your network marketing business by using the power of Facebook Marketing then you’ll need to be available to everyone, expanding your market outside of your local neighborhood, and allowing people to see what you’re all about.

The good news is you can still keep some things private.

When you’re making a Facebook post, you can go to the “settings” of who can see your post and change it from “Public” to only your “Friends” on Facebook.

I would still recommend letting people see into your lifestyle and what you’re about. Prospects who are looking to make an extra income or buy your product will only do so if they know, like, and trust you.

2. Profile Picture and Cover Photo

This is the billboard of you and allows users to instantly see what you’re all about. A photo can instantly tell people what your brand is and if you’re branding your network marketing company on Facebook, it’s a big no-no!

I’ll go over that later in the blog.

Your Facebook profile picture should be fun, smiling, from your chest up, and semi-professional.

I would strongly recommend not having your Facebook profile picture of your pets, your children, or some motivational quote.

The reason for this is because when you’re messaging people, they want to see who they’re talking to. If you want to grow a successful network marketing business, you should appear to be a professional who’s approachable to talk with and who’s having fun with their home-business. Not your cat.

Your cover photo is your brand and your passion(s).

You don’t need to write out on your Facebook cover photo that you’re a dog-owner who likes to travel and go on adventures to explore the outdoors with an occasional nice glass of wine.

But you can easily see my passions in this Facebook cover photo…

Again, do not turn your Facebook cover photo or profile picture into your company’s logo because that SCREAMS, “I only want you to buy my products or join my team and I have no personality or other interests!?

3. Change Your “Tagged Posts” Review

You ever have a minor freak out when you get a Facebook alert on your phone that says your friend just tagged you in a photo?

Haha! I use to all the time…like, “OMG WHAT DID THEY POST?!”

Here’s how to control “tagged posts” from friends.

1. Click on “View Activity Log” on Your Facebook Profile Page.

* This is a desktop view, not mobile view. You can still do this on Facebook through your phone or any mobile device.

2. Change Your Tag Review Settings.

First, click the gear icon which is for your Tag Review Settings. Next, you’ll want to select “Enabled” from the dropdown menu to ensure that all tagged posts are reviewed by you first before they show up on your Facebook Timeline.

4. Your Employment or “Works at…”

Let me just start by saying that I think the network marketing industry is the smartest business model ever invented for those who are looking to get ahead in life whether that’s to pay off debt, travel on vacations with family, or create more time and freedom in your life.

It’s amazing that you can align yourself with a company or product to help you earn an extra income from home or online while traveling…

But you are the CEO of your business.

Don’t make the mistake of posting your rank title and company that you work for in your About Me section on Facebook. I’m sure you’re very proud of what you’ve accomplished the the products that you stand by, but you are essentially the owner and the entrepreneur who’s running the business.

Your job title is “CEO” or “Entrepreneur” or “Network Marketing Professional.” Also, the company you work for is YOU. Put your name or if you have a Facebook Like/Fan Page, you can tag that as the company you work for so people can see more closely into your business.

5. Content, content, content.

Your content is the most important part of Facebook Marketing and “attraction marketing.” The biggest mistake most network marketers make is they post generic photos of their products or company on their Facebook page.

This is why people hate network marketers.

If I can scroll your Facebook profile page and see your company name or product within 10 seconds, you’re doing it wrong.

Your Facebook is like your own magazine. Your Facebook posts are like articles about you and what you’re interested in. I would highly recommend checking out a Branding Workshop I put together to help network marketers build their business through social media marketing.

If you’re in a health/fitness company, create valuable Facebook posts about workouts and healthy meal ideas that people can use. If you’re in a skin/makeup company, create valuable Facebook posts about makeup tutorials or ways to have healthy skin.

Even if you don’t want to create product-related posts on Facebook, you can share valuable posts about network marketing so people can understand how this business works or some tips you’ve learned that are helping you grow your online business.

Again, do not mention your company or products.

I don’t say this to be mean. I say this because I made this mistake for over two years until I finally invested in a mentor who taught me about Facebook Marketing.

One thing my mentor taught me is that…

People on Facebook will buy from you when they know, like, and trust you. People will join your network marketing team because you’re sharing the business tips that are helping you grow your business, having fun, and having results in your bank account.

Be sure to check this Live Facebook video above to hear more in detail about the Biggest Mistakes MLM’ers Make when it comes to social media.

I hope this has helped you with your “Facebook Makeover” and I wish you nothing but success in your network marketing business!
