MLM Tips: 3 Ways To Follow Up With Prospects
Now that you’ve sent your MLM prospects the business presentation that explains your opportunity, it’s important to follow up! Here are three of my favorite ways to follow up.
It’s important to know two things before following up with prospects about your Network Marketing business. The first thing to remember is that you don’t need your prospect to join your business so don’t be hung up on the outcome of whether they decide to join/buy or to “think about it.” The second thing to remember is that the point of showing a prospect an “exposure” to lead them to the next exposure. I’ll explain that later.

MLM Tips: 3 Ways To Follow Up With Prospects
So, let’s get started. You set the follow up time before sending your prospect to your MLM business or product presentation and now it’s time to follow up. Great.
MLM Follow Up #1
If you’re using our MLM follow up system, you understand the importance of the follow up and you message your prospect at the time you said you were going to with a simple follow up script like this:
“Hey Johnnie, I’m running a bit behind on messages right now but I wanted to follow back at this time as promised. Did you get a chance to check out the information I sent you?”
I like this one because you’ve included two things; urgency and keeping your promise. Now, if they say “no” and they didn’t get a chance to watch the information, it’s no big deal. Just let them know you have to prioritize your time a bit and get back to the ones who did watch the information. Then, just ask them when they can check out the presentation for sure and re-set the time to follow up.
MLM Follow Up #2
Now let’s say you didn’t follow up with them when you said you were going to or it slipped your mind. I would wait AT LEAST 3 days after you’ve sent the video presentation to use this one.
Remember, we don’t want to feel like we are trying to beg, bug, or convince our prospects to join our business or buy our products. But, we do want them to see that we’re busy and business is booming because this will give them that FOMO (fear of missing out) when they see things are going well for you. Here’s what you can say:
“Hey Johnnie, so sorry for not getting back to you sooner. We’ve been ridiculously busy with new customers and helping our new brand partners who are eager to make money right now. Totally dropped the ball, man. How’s your day going?”
Now there’s two things I want you to notice here.
The first is that I’m not trying to pressure the prospect with the follow up. I’m just trying to get the conversation going again. That’s all. Once the conversation is back and going, I can bring it up casually by saying, “Hey, I gotta run. I’m about to jump on a conference call, but if you did get a chance to check out the information I sent you, I’d be happy to help answer any questions you have. Gotta run!”
The second thing you want to notice is that I apologized. Why would I apologize? Don’t I want to be postured with the follow up in MLM? Yes, but in the case…you can either point fingers at who’s right or wrong…or you can be rich. Which is better for you?
MLM Follow Up #3
I like to use this network marketing follow up script after 30 days of not hearing back from a prospect. It’s called an “up/deflect” follow up that I learned from Ray Higdon.
The point of this is to update your prospect with things going on in your business, but instead of asking if they can re-watch the business presentation, you ask for referrals. Haha! Awesome. It would sound like this:
“Hey Johhnie. Listen, this business probably isn’t a good fit or it’s just bad timing. No worries. Listen, a guy on my team who’s a teacher and basketball coach out of a small town just walked across the stage as a top earner and told us a really cool tip about this business. Do you know any teachers that are looking to make an extra income on the side if we showed them exactly what to do? If not, no big deal.”
Haha I like that and I feel like it really brings your network marketing follow up skills to the table without sounding like a pushy salesman because you know your MLM prospect is thinking to themselves, “Damn! That Trey guy is having a lot of fun and making money in that business…I really need to re-think this!” And they will revisit it once the timing is right in their lives!
