How to respond when someone says your business is a scam

How to Respond When Someone Says “Your Business is a SCAM!”

Have you ever had someone question the integrity of your business or tell you your company is a scam?

Maybe they said it was a “Pyramid Scheme” as well?

Here are four steps to equip you with effective objection handling tips to help you overcome this objection and educate your prospects with confidence.

How to Respond When Someone Says “BUSINESS IS A SCAM!”

Step 1: Have an unshakeable amount of confidence.

First and foremost, it’s going to be important that you’re confident in what you have to have to offer whether it’s your product or business opportunity.

Are you currently using the product? Have you seen results with it? How has it helped you? Results don’t lie and if you’re passionate that your products are top-notch or will help others, you’ll have unwavering confidence in what you offer.

Also, have you created your own success story in your business? Has your business allowed you to make an extra income or are there others in your business who have had success? Again, results don’t lie. Share these success stories with your prospects and make sure you’re working on your own success story every day.

Step 2: Educate Yourself

Educate yourself first on exactly what a pyramid scheme or scam is. A pyramid scheme is defined as an exchange of money without a product or service.

Now that you know what a pyramid scam is, make sure you’re professional and understand where they’re coming from. Do not become offensive by their lack of education and ignorance.

Were you ever taught about the Network Marketing business model throughout high school or college? Probably not. So, it’s your job to now educate them and help them understand that your business isn’t a scam.

Step 3: Educate Them.

If someone tells me my business is a scam or a “pyramid scheme”, I will ask them..

“What’s a Pyramid Scheme? What do you mean?”

That’s when they typically reply with some type of garbage and ignorance because they haven’t been educated on the Network Marketing business model. Wait for their response and hold your posture with confidence. Then reply with…

“I want to thank you for that. By sharing that with me I’m sure you’re just concerned about my well-being, so again thank you for that. But do you really know what a Pyramid Scheme is?”

Again, hold your posture and don’t take any offense to their lack of education. Be prepared for another ignorant, garbage reply back and simply ask them…

“You do know that pyramid schemes are illegal, right? So, if our company was illegal or a scam, wouldn’t we be shut down by now?”

Again, your job it to simply educate them. By asking these questions, you’re getting them to think about what they said and understand that it’s a legit business model other than most traditional 9-5 jobs.

Step 4: The Transitional Closing Phrase

Once you’ve been able to educate them on exactly what a business scam looks like, it’s important to immediately transition to the closing phrase. The transitional closing phrase looks like this…

“Now that we know this is a legitimate business model and the company is thriving, would there be anything you need to know before getting started?”

However, if your prospect is still adamant in not seeing that network marketing is an honest and fair business model, then just let them go and wish them all the best.

You don’t need to convince anyone of anything and you don’t NEED any one person to join you or buy your products.

The world is full of many people who will be able to see a great opportunity in your business, products or services.
